I hope you had a great summer. I can’t believe that school is about to start in less than a week! This means that the 2010/2011 Cub Program is upon us.
The Pack meetings will remain on Tuesday evenings at Portland Estates Elementary. We plan to start on September 28th… I know it’s late but it’s as early as we can get into the school.
There will be a registration night on September 8th… I will post more information in the week to come.
The 2009/2010 Cub program came to an end a little over a week ago. It seems only yesterday that we were welcoming the Tenderpads to the Pack.

In closing, I would like to a moment to thank and recognize the efforts of our Leaders, Group Committee, and the parents of our Cubs. Your dedication and willingness to help made what the Pack accomplished this year possible. Thank you!

Beaver Swimming-up & Cubs Going up to Scouts Ceremony
Parents, Guardians, and family members are cordially invited to attend a special ceremony at tomorrows meeting. White tail Beavers will “Swim-Up” and be officially welcomed to the Cub Pack. Third Year Cubs will in turn be welcomed to the Scout Troup.
The ceremony will start at 6:45pm and will be followed by refreshments. We ask that Cubs arrive at the normal time by 6:30pm for a quick rehearsal.
Scoutrees
Cubs are reminded to bring back their Scoutrees fund raising envelopes to the Pack Meeting on Tuesday May 4th.
On Tuesday April 20th, Cubs will have a second opportunity to share what they have accomplished to earn the Cub Individual Specialty Badge. Along with the normal procedure for awarding badges in our Pack, we ask that the Cub bring along their own requirement sheet signed off by their parent for the Pack Meeting. Each Cub will make a 5 minute presentation to the Pack on their specialty to complete the requirements for this badge.
On Wednesday April 14th 2010 at 6:30pm, the Home Depot in Dartmouth Crossing (see map) will be hosting a field trip for our Cubs. The Cubs will have the opportunity to build a small project that they will bring home and earn the Carpenter badge.
Each Cub must be accompanied by an adult (e.g. parent or guardian) as Home Depot requires supervision during the event.
There will be no Cub Pack meeting on Tuesday April 13th.
On Tuesday April 6th 2010, the Pack will conduct its activities around Portland Estates Elementary School. The field trip originally scheduled for this date has been postponed as we are finalizing the details.
Cubs are to meet outside the entrance to Portland Estates Elementary School at 6:30pm. We will finish at the regular time of 8:00pm. Please have Cubs dress appropriately for the weather as we will conduct our activities rain or shine.
The topic of the evening will be “The importance of trees” as part of the Black Star requirement A3.
Last night Cubs brought home a fundraising envelope for Scoutree.
Scoutrees for Canada is a national environmental program of Scouts Canada. The benefits are many. As they grow, the trees planted by our Cubs will help prevent flooding, produce clean air, will provide shelter for wildlife and they will become a source of raw materials to meet our future needs. All of our community will benefit through your support.
The best way to show concern about anything is to get involved in it. That is what our Cub Pack are doing through Scoutrees for Canada. On Saturday, May 8th, our Cubs will be planting trees at Camp Harris. Details on the time and exact meeting location will be forwarded shortly.
Support our Cubs in this worthwhile activity… this will also help them earn the Black Star by fulfilling part 2 of requirement A3.
